This Advanced Course requires completion of the Basic Course and a passing score on the final exam before registering. We allow for taking the Advanced course up to 18 months after successful completion of the Basic Course.
In this Advanced 3 day Course, you will build on the overview and training presented in the 1 day Basic Course (a Prerequisite to this course.) It is geared to those individuals who want more in-depth education and/or are interested in developing a business sorting for other fiber bearing livestock owners or fiber purchasers.
After a review of material covered previously, this course will provide a more in depth study of fiber characteristics, structure, types and how to identify them. Extensive review of fiber samples along with hands on fleece evaluation, sorting and grading will follow. You will have the opportunity to examine alpaca, wool and other fiber types we have available. In addition, instruction in documentation and record keeping will be presented, along with requirements for different sorting clients as it will be required for those who choose to continue the training in the Apprenticeship. We only allow for a 2 week period after successful completion of the Advanced Course to sign up for the Apprenticeship portion of the program. This is to ensure those interested benefit from immediate knowledge and experience in moving forward towards completion of becoming a Master Sorter/Grader. We encourage you to consider signing up for the Advanced and be prepared for sign up for the Apprenticeship Program immediately upon successful completion of the Advanced Course.

Please note Registration closes 30 days prior to class date. If there are not enough registered by that date, class is subject to cancellation.
If you will be taking the Basic course immediately prior to this course on July 27, you may register and pay for this Advanced course at the same time should you desire to. We recommend you do so to hold your spot as well as letting us know your intent. If enough are not registered 30 days prior to the class, we have to cancel. If you registered for the Advanced and that occurs, you will receive a full refund for the ADVANCED class portion of your payment. Understand that you will be required to pass the BASIC course exam to qualify to continue in this course. Registration is on a first come first serve basis. Additional dates may be added as demand dictates. If you have completed the SGC BASIC class within the past 20 months, you are eligible to take this next ADVANCED class. Registration required!
